A Day of Mixed Feelings
It was 10 o’clock Saturday morning, and my alarm clock was buzzing. I was really reluctant to get up. I am one of those people that love to sleep…I mean really love to sleep. On a normal day when I have nothing to do, I like to wake up around 11 o’clock. Even though there is only an hour difference between those times, staying up until three in the morning will make anyone want to get some extra sleep. So as my alarm clock was going off, I noticed that I was a little sluggish today. Normally, I only have to press the Snooze button once before I am ready to get up, but on this particular morning, I was having some trouble. I felt like I should just roll over and go back to sleep, but there was something I had to do. The Alabama football game was scheduled to start at eleven thirty, and I was not about to miss watching it. For as long as I have enjoyed watching football, which I would say must be close to ten years, I have only missed watching Alabama play once. It was last year, I had to work, and I ended up listening to the game on the radio the whole time. I did not really miss a lot because it was an away game, and it was an easy win for Alabama. So despite the fact that I was not feeling my best, I got up, put on my Alabama t-shirt, and drove over to my friend’s house to watch the game. I felt a bit nervous about the game because I was not really sure how well Alabama would do. The team is in the process of rebuilding, and even though they had won one game already, it was only against Western Carolina. My nerves went away as I saw Alabama have control of the game the entire time. During the fourth quarter of the game, I realized the reason for my sluggishness that morning. I slowly developed a headache, which was closely followed by a sore throat. I realized I had come down with a cold. “Are you serious?” I thought. I could not believe I had gotten a cold in the middle of September. How does that happen? I got worse and worse throughout the day, and I was not able to go to the lake like I had made plans to do. The only thing I did all day was lay on my friend’s couch watching football games, which actually turned out to be alright because there were some really exciting games on. What I was disappointed about was that I would probably not be able to do anything that night. My day had started alright, but then everything just seemed to go wrong. However, something happened that put me in a much better mood. Auburn really made me happy when they lost in overtime. It was a great game. Even though I felt awful for most of the day, it cannot get any better on a day when Alabama wins and Auburn loses.
