best day of college so far
My college experience has been jam packed so far with pledge parties, formals, swaps, dinners, games, homework, shopping, exercise and meeting new people that when today rolled around my body had reached it's limit, not only physically but mentally. I woke up this morning without an alarm, without loud roommates and without the sound of sirens outside my window. My body was wrapped in a cacoon of pillows and blankets of all different textures and I was fused with the foam top mattress I talked my parents in to buying me. My hair gently pranced around on my face thanks to the cool breeze of my fan that sat serenly on my desk and drowned out any background noise present. I checked my cell phone and for once it actually read p.m. It was one of those mornings where you are genuinly relaxed and you can't tell where the sheets end and your body begins. I sunk out of bed, welcomed my robe and strolled out to the kitchen to grab some breakfast. I successfully wasted an hour in a trance in front of the television and then decided to go back to bed and forget about going to the grocery and rec center. I slumbered away for a few more hours only to get up and relax on the couch and read a few entertainment magazines. Before I knew it, the day was gone and it was time for dessert at my sorority house. Today was the first day where I wasn't worried about whether I would get to the next place that I had to be on time, or how many hours of sleep was absolutely necessary to function. A quote from one of my favorite movies (Office Space) sums it up. "I did nothing. I did absolutely nothing, and it was everything I thought it could be."
