Changes
So I am new to the whole webloging world, and I do not think I would have ever looked into it without this class! This class is completely different (in a good way) from what I expected it to be, and so is college life. I’m not really sure what to write about in my blog, so I’ll start with my weekend. I took a break from “college life” and went home for the weekend. Although it took me two long hours to get home instead of forty-five minutes, it was good to be back on familiar roads. When I got back to Birmingham, I met up with some of my friends from Auburn (and some from Bama), and we went to our high school football game. Lame, I know, but it was fun to see everybody again! There were about ten or twelve “alumni” from my graduating class who returned for the game, and then there were a couple of older graduates who were in town for the weekend too. After being a cheerleader for four years, it was really weird to be in the stands. I was unsure about where to park or how to get in after being able to get in for free for so many years! Upon arriving near the student section, which graduates rarely sit in, I got tackled by my current high school friends. They updated me on the latest gossip: who is friends with who, and who doesn’t like who. I got to see a couple of old teachers, and I smiled when I saw the same old faces of parents who have been coming to watch the team year after year. I also got to see my sister cheer, which was especially interesting because of the new coach. There had also been many changes to the football field; I noticed the glare of the stadium lights on the new Astroturf playing field. There were also black and blue banners lining the field with giant pictures of the senior football players and cheerleaders. Another good change was Spain Park has actually won two games in a row! While there were many changes, it was good to finally be home. For the remainder of the weekend, I rested in my queen size bed with its six pillows and five fleece blankets. I never fully appreciated its size or comfort until after sleeping in my dorm room twin sized bed for a couple of weeks. College life seems so fast paced, and I always feel like I have something to do or somewhere to be. Between classes, meetings, and homework, I almost don’t have time to breathe! It was nice to finally rest and not have anything to do. After a weekend of sleeping, shopping, and seeing old friends, I left home in a hurry to get back to my fast paced college life. So now I am back to my fun-filled, fast-paced college life with no parents, lots of friends, and twin beds.
